On December 8, 2025, the special lecture "From Massive Data to Unique Insights: CNRDS Empowering Economics Research," jointly organized by the China-ASEAN School of Economics and the China Research Data Service Platform (CNRDS), was successfully held in Lab 603 of the School's Experimental Center. The lecture was hosted by Xu Mingzhen, a senior lecturer at CNRDS, and adopted a "online + offline" synchronous format. A total of 107 faculty and students registered for the event, with 61 attending in person and the rest participating online.

Lecturer Xu Mingzhen began by systematically outlining the positioning and resource portfolio of the CNRDS platform, with a focus on its specialized resources such as comprehensive financial data and economic index data tailored for academic research. He then demonstrated the platform's intelligent text analysis tool, guiding faculty and students on how to efficiently match data dimensions through case studies in supply chain and green finance research. Addressing common challenges in data application, he shared practical techniques for data retrieval and cleaning, effectively resolving issues like "inaccurate data retrieval and inefficient data utilization." This approach helped clarify the practical pathways for integrating data tools with academic research.

During the interactive session, teachers and students actively raised questions on topics such as “expanding economic data dimensions in border “,  “text analysis tools tailored to research needs”,  “precise data matching for projects”, and “advanced platform features”. Online participants also engaged through real-time chat board. Lecturer Xu Mingzhen provided detailed responses to each query, facilitating seamless cross-space communication between online and offline platforms.

This lecture, a signature initiative by the School to enhance faculty and students' research capabilities, not only equipped participants with systematic skills in using the CNRDS platform but also built a practical bridge between data tools and economic research. It has played a pivotal role in supporting future research topic selection and data-driven empowerment.
